Several years ago I began to realize that my ‘vision’ was diminishing. Now I’m certain it was genetic and NOT due to the fact I was getting older. Ok maybe ‘age’ did play a small part. 🙄
So,,,, I did what every responsible adult would do. I went to my local Vision Doctor, got an exam and received a prescription for new glasses. 🤓 Because I really hate glasses, I decided it was time for an upgrade. I decided I would become a ‘contact’ wearer. 🙋♀️
I was so excited! The Vision Doc gave me a small course in the office on putting them in and taking them out. Seemed easy enough. 🤷♀️ I took my samples, went home and began my new journey of seeing clearer than I had in years.
Well,,,,,that was UNTIL I had to remove them!! 😳Full of confidence from my ‘Contact Lens’ course, I began poking, pinching, pulling, wiping, and eventually crying! 😩
Nothing I seem to do was right! By the time I was done my eyes were red, swollen, and still FILLED with my new contacts! 🤪
I was overwhelmed, discouraged, and felt like a ‘contact lens wearer’ failure!! I did what any woman married to an ER Doc would do! I called my husband to help. In less than a second he poked both my eyes and had both of my contacts out! How did he do that? How could he do in seconds what I had worked on for over an hour?!!
It didn’t take me long to realize, HE had a gift! A special ‘Contact Removal’ gift!! That lasted about two days, until I realized it wasn’t a gift, but,,,, ‘Perspective. ‘
He was looking from the outside in. 🧐 I was working from the inside out. 😜 He could see the contact and grab it without it affecting him. I on the other hand, felt every poke and squish I attempted to grab from my eye.
The Bible says, “Where there is no [vision], the people perish.” (Proverbs 29:18)
Andy Stanley said, “Vision gives significance to the otherwise meaningless details of our lives. Too many times the routines of life begin to feel like shoveling dirt. But take those same routines, those same responsibilities, and view them through the lens of vision and everything looks different. Vision brings your world into focus. Vision brings order to chaos. A clear vision enables you to see everything differently.”
What my contacts did in the natural is what Vision in Christ does for me and you in the spiritual!
We too often forget that walking in ‘God-Size Vision’ comes with a cost.
To walk a God-size Vision HE has given us, often is painful to what is natural and normal. When God gives you a clear vision it will always cost you your comfort and will demand a change of lifestyle. It requires you to learn new ways of living, throwing off old habits, and embracing the pain of walking in true clarity! ( sometimes we feel poked, squished, swollen, and left struggling, but remember He Always meets us in our struggle)
I would like to encourage you today, to examine what Vision you are living by? Are you walking in a God-Size Vision that brings clarity to your Life and Purpose?
Or, are you settling for a more dim, unclear vision that gets you by, but doesn’t drive you to fulfill the God-Size purpose resting over your life?
I pray today, God invades your blurriness with clarity. I pray you will refuse to settle for what you see around you and will allow Him to bring you into a God-Size Vision that will change you and the world around you.
“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us. ” Ephesians 5:20
